First Communion
To make First Communion, your child must:
- Your child must be Baptized.
- Your child must have already made their first confession (Penance),
AND be 3rd grade or older.
- Your child must have attended one full year of CCD/Religious education
instruction prior to this year's classes.
- Memorize their prayers, especially the Sign of the Cross, Our Father,
Hail Mary, Glory Be and Act of Contrition. These should be said nightly.
- Should already know the format for Confession, ten commandments, and the seven sacraments.
- Children can not be absent from CCD classes more than 6 times, nor taken out early for sports, etc.
Parent(s) must:
- Attend both of the Parent Sacrament Parent Sessions
- Provide a copy of the child’s Baptismal certificate, unless you did so last year.
- Study the test provided in the letter in January with your child
- Discuss the test sent out in January. It is taken during class in 4 parts,
recorded, and returned to your child to take home.
- Use the Prayer booklet and teach them their prayers
- Practice receiving communion at home once you are shown how in the Parent Sessions. Model this
- Take your child to confession just prior to the Communion date.
- Not take children out of class early, except for a true emergency, and bring them to class. (No more than 6 absences allowed)
- Take your child to Mass weekly

- Pay the registration fee, or get a waiver from Father
